TerraSphere FAQ

How do I become a Licensee? What does it cost?

Licenses are available to qualified prospects. Pricing is dependent on territory and size of facility.

What exclusivity can I have as a Licensee?

We license territories, usually by province or state. Larger regional territories will also be considered.

What is the price of the TerraSphere System?

One TerraSphere ‘Machine’ or ‘Unit’ is comprised of approximately 11-15 levels, depending on the client’s needs. Units are priced depending on the size of the order.

Can you send me a financial model?

Since the TerraSphere System is designed for the particular structure, typical pricing is not available. There are many variables involved in the pricing of a System such as location, local produce prices, size of the facility, etc.

What size building is required?

The TerraSphere System is scalable, so a customized System can be designed to fit the ceiling height of the building and the square foot of the space. TerraSphere can design any size facility (starting with one collapsible frame, or Machine, with 11 tiers), depending on what and how much a customer wants to grow.

Are there any other building requirements or guidelines?

In general, guidelines to look for:

- Open, warehouse type space; 1,500 sq ft for administration/office; balance of space for growing and packaging product

- Minimum ceiling height in all areas except admin/office of 22’9”

- At least 1 truck loading dock

- 1,600 Amp / 480Vac / 3ø Wye Service

- Typical natural gas, water and sewer hookups

- Concrete floors, no special loading requirements

- No wood, few windows

How much does a Machine produce?

TerraSphere Machines can be optimized using a thinning regime, maximizing the output of a facility. Output figures vary by crop.

How fast does the system produce product?

The speed of production varies by product. Estimates of production speeds are as follows:

Lettuce ~45 days from seed

Spinach ~45 days from seed

Basil ~30 days from seed

How many employees does it take to operate the system?

At 60 Machines, 25-30 employees should be an appropriate staffing level.

What is the payback period?

Payback varies by crop and local market economics, but it is generally achieved in 2-3 years.

What is the lifespan of the machinery?

Machines are composed of heavy aluminum and plastic, and should last up to 20 years with proper maintenance.

What kind of fertilizer does TerraSphere use? Is it organic?

Most hydroponic fertilizers work with the TerraSphere system. Organic certification depends on the seeds and fertilizer used and the jurisdiction of the licensee.
